Coming home to natural awareness – 6-week course

Natural awareness is an effortless state of presence in which we feel at ease with what is happening in our current experience. When we are dwelling in natural awareness we realise that what we are looking for is already here: there is nothing we need to do or achieve to experience peace of mind. Thoughts and feelings come and go in the space of awareness and no longer hold us in their grip. We feel connected to others and our surroundings, and can respond intuitively and effectively to opportunities and challenges that come our way.
Each week we’ll come together as a group and collectively tune into the natural awareness that is already accepting ourselves and our experience unconditionally. We’ll see what happens when we pause all the seeking, struggling and striving and allow things to be as they are. We’ll engage in natural meditation, experiential exercises, dialogue and simply being together in silence and stillness.
There will also be practical guidance on connecting with natural awareness every day, so we can increasingly live and function from this liberating state of mind and way of being. This will include an invitation to engage in around 20 minutes’ meditation per day, as well as short glimpses during the day.
Everyone is welcome and no prior knowledge or experience is necessary.

I really enjoyed the communal feeling of connected, shared, relaxed awareness and aliveness, which working in the group and Luke provided. Many thanks Luke for your calm, subtle, kind, centred, pragmatic teaching and for your generosity in sharing your knowledge with us. You gently reminded us we could access this awareness – inside us all – now and forever, which was reassuring. Even during the times when we might temporarily lose contact with it, it is there waiting for us to reconnect with it.
I found it easier to use the natural awareness approach than focussing on the breath and other mindfulness techniques, and it put me in contact with the world outside me and other people. The course hugely benefited my mental health in that it enabled me to access my awareness to calm a mind full of conflicting thoughts and struggling to focus on work and my personal life; as well as accept difficulty as okay and to pull back from worrying about achieving the next goal and comparing myself with others. To be more aware of, and sit with, wherever I happen to be in the present moment.
With no exaggeration, what I learned on the course is subtly changing my everyday life, which is rather wonderful, and enabling me to live more acceptingly, flexibly and consciously with constant painful thoughts and feelings from an earlier family tragedy – the type one simply cannot completely recover from. For me, this is a tool for coping with all of this and enabling me to live more peacefully with the present moment, as well as the competing demands of life and work in London.

The simplicity of not trying to achieve anything or change how I feel has been liberating and helped me to experience much appreciated moments of peace, calm and ease without any effort at all

The natural awareness course was a great introduction to a really valuable aspect of mindfulness. Luke facilitated the course brilliantly, with warmth, humour and compassion.
